Julia Blackwood – Piano

Piano Instructor

  Julia Blackwood started learning piano at four in Japan. In 2012, she moved to Massachusetts and studied at South Shore Conservatory until high school graduation.

At 16, she performed at Carnegie Hall after winning the Grand Prize at the Russian Music Competition. The following year, she won the same competition again and performed at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall. She also won other awards during her time at South Shore Conservatory.

In 2019, she attended Tyrolean International Piano Academy in Austria, and in 2022, she participated in Prof. Anna Malikova’s Masterclass in Vienna. She also took part in Vienna International Piano Academy, playing at Ehrbar Hall and learning from renowned pianists such as Masahiro Kawakami, Stephan Möller, Kariné Poghosyan, and Kurt Seibert.

During her undergrad, Ms. Julia taught piano at Baylor University’s Piano Lab Program where she instructed group and private lessons. She also worked as a Church Pianist for two years at First Presbyterian Church in Waco, TX.

She earned her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Baylor University, studying under Dr. Terry Lynn Hudson. Her other primary teachers include HuiMin Wang and Jeewon Park.
