While attending Collin College, Mr. Occhipinti studied drum set and percussion with Gene Glover. He also studied secondary piano with Dr. Brian Allison, and began to spend more time with the piano. By graduation time, Matt’s interests turned entirely to piano. He consequently transferred to the University of Texas at Arlington where he completed a Bachelors Degree in Music Industry Studies. Mr. Occhipinti graduated Magna Cum Laude. At UTA, he also minored in communications. He plans on completing a graduate level music degree in the near future. Mr. Occhipinti has won several awards and scholarships for performance on both drum set and piano, and multiple academic achievement awards for his outstanding commitment to education. Matt has also performed in two Collin College talent shows, winning best vocal/instrumental performance one year and honorable mention the second. He traveled to Nashville, TN with the Collin College vocal jazz group “Expressions” where he accompanied on drum set. and to Wichita, KS to perform with the UTA jazz ensemble on drum set, and with the UTA Latin jazz ensemble on piano. Mr.
Occhipinti
has been teaching piano for several years. He taught privately
for three years and also taught
Group Piano classes at the Salvation Army
School of Performing Arts. A
dedicated educator with a diverse background, Mr.
Occhipinti
is extremely
adaptable and molds his teaching style to the
individual needs and varying personalities of the student, never
overlooking the fun and joyful side of learning. He is passionate about the joy of
music making onto his students.
Mr. Occhipinti joined Coppell Conservatory
in 2008, where he
teaches Private Piano as well as Group Piano. His
patience and his caring for his students make
him an ideal educator for beginners as well as for advanced piano
students.
